A disappointing turnout of only six boats, as the winds stayed kind. The rain also held off until the race had finished. ‘Rhumba’ sailed a great race as usual, finishing within a minute of the much longer Bavaria and taking the race on corrected time. ‘Rhumba’ sailed so fast, they even had sufficient water to get back into the marina after the race. Kim Stephenson, sailing the diminutive ‘Lord Bob’ singlehanded, finished 35 minutes behind the leaders but took a well-deserved second place on handicap.
Almost too close to call, only three seconds separated the Formula one and the Bavaria 36, ‘Good Rum’ for third place on corrected time.
Many thanks to Chris Peet for his assistance on the committee boat and to the entrants for taking part. A great day’s sailing was had by all.
