Briefing at 09.30 for First Start 10.00 prompt
Entry Fee £15.00 Includes Tea/Coffee/Bacon Rolls on arrival (from 08.30) and food after racing.
Entry form to be completed and brought to event along with entry fee.

All boats to have current insurance with a minimum liability of £2,000, 000.

RULES
The Open Meeting will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017 – 2020 (RRS), the prescriptions of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), and the GP14 Class Association rules, except as any of these is changed by these sailing instructions
.NOTICES TO COMPETITORS
Notices to competitors will be posted on the notice board in the club house adjacent to the dining area.
BRIEFING
Briefing is at 09.30
CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Any changes to the sailing instructions will be explained to competitors at the briefing and posted on the notice board.
SIGNALS MADE ASHORE
No signals will be made ashore.
FLEET ALLOCATION
Gold, Silver and Bronze fleet allocations will not be made.
SCHEDULE OF RACES
Launching will be from 09.45 approximately, as tide allows. The first race will start promptly at 10.00. There will be a maximum of 3 back to back races.
CLASS FLAG
The Class flag will be pennant 1.
RACING AREA
The racing area will use the marker buoys 1 through 10. The buoys increase numerically in a clockwise direction from number 1 up to number 9. The exception being number 10, this is located between buoys 5 and 6. An additional inflatable buoy may also be used, this will be indicated by letter ‘X’ on the course indicator board.
HAZARDS
The main hazard is going aground at low water on the edge of the Woodrolfe Creek, which is sailed to get to the racing area; the Leavings. At low water it is advisable to use the first two navigation buoys after exiting the creek into the Leavings.
The ends of marsh where creeks meet and the ends of the cob islands are marked with posts. For safety reasons, the shallows indicated by these posts are OUT OF BOUNDS, competitors must not sail in these areas at any time. This aspect will be fully covered at the briefing.
The creek can be busy with other craft.
COURSES
The courses for races 1, 2 and 3 will be displayed on the committee boat. Any changes will be displayed on the committee boat between races. Competitors must pass through the start/finish line at the end of each lap.
SHORTENING COURSE
When the shortened course signal is made the leading boat will finish the next time it crosses the start/finish line having completed the lap on which it is sailing.
If an official boat stations itself adjacent to a mark of the course and makes the appropriate “shortened course signal” then the leading boat will finish as it passes between the official boat (flying the shortened course flag) and the mark of the course.
MARKS
Marks will be described at the briefing prior to racing.
THE START
Races will be started using Rule 26 (RRS) with the warning signal given 5 minutes before the starting signal.
The starting line will be between the mast of the Committee Boat and the designated orange buoy.
THE FINISH
The finishing line will be between the mast of the Committee Boat and the designated orange buoy or a mark of the course as described in “Shortening Course”.
TIME LIMITS
Boats failing to finish within 30 minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes may be scored Did Not Finish with points awarded for the finishing place one more than the number of boats + starting the race. This changes rules 35 and A4 (RRS)
PROTESTS AND REQUESTS FOR REDRESS.
Protests must be notified to the race officer verbally at the end of the race to which they apply. Protest Forms shall be delivered to the Race Officer within 30 minutes of him coming ashore at the end of racing. Times of protest hearings will be published on the notice board outside the clubhouse. Arbitration may be offered as an alternative to a full protest hearing.
SCORING
Points shall be awarded in accordance with the RRS Low Points system as described in Appendix A4, except as amended elsewhere in these sailing instructions.
DISCARDS
If 1 or 2 races completed no discard. If 3 races completed 1 discard.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
The safety of a boat, her crew and entire management shall be the sole responsibility of the person in charge who must ensure that the boat and crew are adequate to face the conditions that may arise during the course of the race /event. Neither these sailing instructions nor any inspection of the boats limits or reduces the absolute responsibility of the person in charge for the boat, her crew and her management. Tollesbury Sailing Club shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to any member or other person as a result of their taking part in any club race or event.
SAFETY REGULATIONS
All competitors shall wear personal flotation devices. Flag Y need not be displayed, this alters RRS 40. Wet suits and dry suits are not personal flotation devices. A boat sailing with any member of her crew not wearing an adequate personal flotation device shall be disqualified without a hearing.
INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third – party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £2,000,000.
