What the Dickens – it’s Tollesbury

Many of you will be aware that various scenes from the BBC One Christmas drama Great Expectations were filmed around Tollesbury and Salcott. The opening scenes were filmed on the marshes (in the mud!) and the forge was built specially on the RSPB reserve at Abbotts Hall Farm. If you want to watch it, it is on BBC One in three parts on the 27th, 28th and 29th December.

The Telegraph recently carried an article about the filming. The real surprise for us from the article is that they didn’t seem to realise we have our own mud – they brought mud make-up with them to film 🙂
